Established in 1926 by a prominent, reform-minded physician and his suffragist wife, the John Randolph Haynes and Dora Haynes Foundation is a leading supporter of social science research for Los Angeles. During graduate school, I was the recipient of the Haynes-Lindley Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship from the John Randolph and Dora Haynes Foundation. My dissertation project identified variations in voting behavior between Asian Americans and Latinos.

Dissertation. My dissertation examines minority voting behavior, for which I was awarded an external dissertation fellowship from the John Randolph and Dora Haynes Foundation. Entitled “Descriptive Representation in a Multiracial America,” I find Asian American voters mobilize for co-ethnic candidates.
His dissertation examines the legacies of felony and misdemeanor convictions on the civic participation of those who were formerly incarcerated.
