She had a hand in developing both the Dr. John Morton-Finney Scholarship Program—named for the alumnus who earned 13 academic degrees, served as a Buffalo Soldier in the Spanish-American War, and was a practicing attorney at the time of his death at age 108—and the Multicultural Resource Center, the forerunner to the Efroymson Diversity.

Applicants for the scholarship were limited to graduates of metropolitan Indianapolis high schools. Next year the scholarship will become national, with at least one winner to be selected from Indianapolis.
